The style is “Viniyoga” which is an ancient Sanskrit word that means “appropriate application”. It is a type of Hatha Yoga. The hallmarks of this particular approach are:

  • careful attention to and precise application of the breath
  • adaptation/modification of postures
  • dynamic as well as static posture work
  • careful sequencing of postures


The term Viniyoga refers to the teachings of T.K.V. Desikachar and his father T. Krishnamacharya.

Most classes include postures (asana), breathing practices (pranayama), yoga philosophy and chanting. Occasionally the practice may be more meditative and sometimes there are workshop-type sessions on postures.


Lisa runs all her classes as short courses with a specific theme, course fees are paid in advance of the course start date and are £9.00 per lesson. This is discounted to £8.00 for those who choose to pay by monthly standing order (£30 per month).

It is not possible to pay for part of the course or have refunds for missed classes.
